Trinity Valley Quilt Show 2010

We stopped by the quilt show a couple of weeks ago and I never got around to uploading the pics I was able to take. It seemed to be a smaller show than in years past, but they always have some real talent on display. Here's a few photos of the ones I liked the best. Enjoy!

Garage sale find!

This past weekend was garage sale central in my neighborhood. Ash and I got up early and hit several. We only made it to half a dozen before I found my treasure for the day. This is a solid cedar Lane Hope chest. There is one leg that needs to be stabilized, and the "faux" hardware on the front is non-functional, but one is broken. I see a project with a much happier (and prettier) outcome than sitting in someone's garage...any idea what I paid for this gem??

A whopping 20 bucks! Lets see what I can turn it into. Stay tuned!

Patriotic Purse

I made a new purse for one of my fellow Air Force wives. This is a heavily modified version of the Bow Tucks pattern by Quilts Illustrated. I increased the height and width, narrowed the depth, changed the pocket width and height, widened the straps, and made them longer, widened the ties on the sides, and custom sized all the interior pockets to fit her specific items (cell phone, ipod, etc). I also removed one layer of the batting to make it lighter weight. The quilting is straight diagonal lines across the body of the bag, and freemotion "America" on the front pocket.
